recently I've been trying to see if I just don't like arcade games that much in general, as I struggle to find anything I want to play for more than a couple runs before not touching the game for months or years despite thinking so many of them either look cool or have a cool overall vibe and interesting gameplay.
like, I try a game, either credit feed my way through it to see all of it or maybe see how far I can go on one credit, but either way I almost never feel compelled to come back to something to perform better for more than a couple runs even if it left an overall good impression on me. like, no compulsion to get a higher score at all, and even with survival I'm put off by the idea of replaying earlier stages to get to the part that actually fucks me up which makes me think "well do I even like playing the game in the first place if this much is enough to put me off playing it?"
closest thing there's been to a lasting interest is booting up robotron 2084 every few days but that's mainly just because I like the colors and that I expect the runs to be so short that my fucked up hands won't suffer too much (and that it's easier on the eyes than evil egg)

maybe about a decade ago I did actually do a few runs of a few touhou games (6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14 but mostly 11) once every month or so trying to bash my head against the wall to see how far I could get on one credit, eventually resulting in an easy mode 1cc of subterranean animism, though I kind of get the impression it was more like sitting down to listen to album I liked.
(just went and checked and it was literally in 2016 that I got said 1cc, wow it really has been that long)

but after dedicating so much of my time to deliberate game discovery since then I've found sooo many more games that match my tastes more and that fit whatever mood I'm in and arcade games/stgs/whatever run based thing just don't come up in the rotation anymore.
could be I just don't have the arcade brain and spending so much time trying to find *arcade games specifically* that I'm willing to grind out runs in is just an exercise in frustration. I can't blame RSI because if something really grabbed me I'd be willing to give it more time, but it just doesn't happen
actually I did play eigengrau on recently and that was sick enough that I'm considering maybe trying a harder difficulty before the end of this year, though the competition for my limited time is pretty stacked. especially when I want to spend a significant portion of it making or learning to make things, too

I was messing around in vroid for some reason or other and I really like the colors it assigns all the hair groups in the hair edit mode, reminds me of my spirit animal from etrian odyssey
on the weekend it appears we have found time to finish the rest of the game, I was only expecting to play up to defeating abobo but honestly it's the point I hit in RCG where it's like sure yeah I'll just do the rest of the game ocean heights ain't that long and neither is the tower soooo that's just what we did. honestly as many times as I've played this the real challenge here was breaking out of old habits like trying to get involved in coop combos or trying to display new changes in the mod.
anyway now that that's done I may spend more time updating my site over the next week or so until I at least have something on every page (and actually have every page up in the first place)
so I'm still working on the RCG1 mod playthrough but my coop partner is like never awake at the same time as me anymore due to time zone and sleep schedule shit but here's part one of that stream, anyway I've had a small amount of time this weekend to make a small change to the background of my page, unfortunately most css/html knowledge pours out of my ears the moment I stop actively using it
currently this website is WIP, before setting up all the pages and putting stuff on them I want to finish doing my test playthrough of my goofy lil river city girls 1 mod so I can throw it up here
